Lentil and bacon pasta recipe

This pasta is ideal for cold days. It is quick to prepare, tasty and substantial. It is also very healthy due to lentils that are a very good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber, protein and help prevent heart diseases. In addition, this recipe is really budget-friendly:-) 

You need (for 4 portions):

- 250g (9 oz) canned lentils
- 300g (11 oz) pasta
- 1/2 carrot
- 1/2 celery
- 1/2 onion
- 40g (1 oz) chopped bacon
- 500ml (17 fl oz) water
- salt, pepper

Finely chop the onion, carrot and celery and fry them in a some oil for 2-3 minutes

Add bacon and continue to cook for another 5 minutes

Place the lentils into a big pan, add 500ml water 

Combine the carrots, onions, celery and bacon mixture with the lentils and bring them to boil

Add pasta and cook until it is ready (stir it often). Add some salt and black pepper.(In the meantime the pasta will absorb the liquid).
